Should I repair or replace?

Honest advice — even if it costs us the job.

Most window faults are cheaper to fix than people think — a £55 handle swap can save you a £600 new sash. But sometimes the smarter move is replacement. Our 30-second rule:

Repair
The frame is structurally sound
Most uPVC frames last 25-35 years. If yours is < 20 years old and just has misting or hardware failure → fix it.
Replace
Frame is rotted, warped, or single-glazed
Beyond 25 years, repair costs creep towards 60% of replacement. Replace and reset the energy bill from day one.
Replace
3+ separate repairs needed
If the surveyor finds more than 3 faults, replacement usually pays back within 5 years on bills + warranty.

Just one or two faults
A single misted pane or broken lock is almost always a fix-not-replace job.
